Friends of the Library

Would you like to support your library in a FUN and rewarding way?

Consider becoming a Friend of the Lower Providence Community Library!

What are Friends and what do Friends do?

Friends of the Library USA (FOLUSA) is a national organization dedicated to motivating and supporting local Friends groups throughout the country.

The Friends of the Lower Providence Community Library have a three-fold mission:

  1. Support the growth of the Library’s collection through fundraising activities specifically earmarked toward the purchase of books and reference materials.
  1. Sponsor programs of community interest to all age groups.
  1. Act as advocates and community liaisons on the library’s behalf.

Since our incorporation in 1995, The Friends of the Lower Providence Community Library have raised over $25,000.  We have sponsored and participated in over 50 programs.  These programs have included:

*      A monthly book discussion group (held the 3rd Wednesday of each  month)

*      An ongoing used book sale in the library as well as an annual "Cabin Fever" used book sale

*      Reading Phillies ticket book sales

*      The annual holiday music concert at the library

*      Participation in the Township’s fall Community Day

*      Ongoing financial support of the library’s county-wide computer system, MCLINC

*      Financial support of the Summer Reading Program

*      Supplying promotional items such as magnets and bookmarks

The Friends collect receipts from Acme Markets and Redners for fund raising purposes.  In addition, Genuardi’s Market continues a long standing program to give cash back to the community’s non-profit groups.  Now done automatically through the ESCRIP program, you no longer have to stash away cash register receipts.  If you use a Genuardi Club Card, you can indicate the local organizations you wish to support (up to three).  Each time you purchase groceries, a portion of your spending is automatically designated to support the groups you selected.

Signing up is FAST and EASY! – Choose 1 of these 3 methods:

*   Go to www.escrip.com and select “Lower Providence Community Library" as a designated organization.  (Be sure to have your Genuardi Club Card handy!)

*   Fill out a form available at the Library’s Circulation Desk and the registration will be done for you.  You will need to provide your Genuardi Club Card number.

*   Go to a customer service desk at any Genuardi’s and ask to support the Lower Providence Community Library (#149389996) through ESCRIP.

The Friends of the Lower Providence Community Library THANK YOU for helping us help the library!
